This is the best of butter servers. This lovely Simpson, Miller, Hall and Company butter dish has all the bells and whistles. The server features 2 lovely cherubs (no wings) or children supporting scrolling metal fretwork that is holding up a sphere. The sphere is etched on both sides with a lovely aesthetic pattern of flowers and Persian carpet in the middle. The piece features an acanthus leaf decorated carrying handle and a place to rest a butter knife. The exciting part about the butter dish is that when you lift the knob of the dish that both sides of the cover unfold around to the bottom of the dish. This is always quite exciting to have company over and have them marvel for a half an hour over something as common as a butter dish.

When you open the dish, you will see a gold washed plate that the butter sits upon. The plate fits quite snuggly in the overall piece, but is removable so you can put ice underneath it to keep your butter cold and firm.
