This magnificent silver mechanical butter dish was made by the Rockford Silver Co. It is quadruple plated.

This company was established in 1873 as the Racine Silver Plate Co. and was renamed Rockford Silver Co. in 1882. This name was used from 1882-1925.

Design and hallmark on bottom dates this piece of art in the late 1890's to 1905.

This butter dish is in near mint original condition. It stands a grand 12.5" tall and 9" wide. It has a metal insert for the butter. You put ice in the area under the insert to keep it cool.

Unigue mechanical lid raises and lowers with a lever and chain design. Very clever and different.

Silver butter knife shown in the photos is included.
