| Aesthetic Movement Tile by Minton c1885 This decorative tile was made by Minton. It is marked to the reverse with Minton's China Works Stoke On Trent and the circular mark which would have read, Minton Stoke on Trent, Wallbrook London. As this tile has been used, you can only just about make out the shape of the circular mark. There is a picture of this tile in the book Fired Earth, 1000 years or Tiles in Europe, Richard Dennis Publications, on page 128. It is described as: a tile with under-glaze printed decoration of oriental style branches.. Dust-pressed Minton's China Works, c 1885. Private Collection. The tile measures 15cm (6") square. There is possibly a little nibbling one edge, but otherwise, this piece is in very good condition. It is housed in a very easy to remove frame for display purposes ( protection too.) |
