Rare Victorian Modern Gothic Secretary Dresser attr. to Pabst An attractive Victorian Modern Gothic Secretary Dresser in the manner of Pabst, Philadelphia, circa 1885. The dresser retains its original finish, fitted interior. Nice attractive decorative tiles. Measurements are 72 inches tall, 36 inches wide and 21 inches deep.

Pair American Gothic Revival Oak Hall Chairs <b>An American Victorian Oak and Ash Hall Chairs associated with the retailer Henry Siebrecht, New Orleans c. 1850.


Description: Carved oak and ash with highly pierced stiles and carved front legs. High cathedral tracery back. The hinged plank seat and glove box over a lower frieze of dropped trefoils (68 inches h x 22 inches w x 20 inches d).


These chairs are generally associated with New Orleans and attributed to the Henry Siebrecht, manufacturer and retailer of 19th century furniture. Examples known are all in museum collections. Museums such as Winterthur, the Houston Museum of Fine Art, the Denver Art Museum, the Bybee Collection at the Dallas Museum of Art, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The chair was on viewing at The Minneapolis Institute of Arts in the exhibit called Currents of Change - Art and Life Along the Mississippi River 1850-1861. The exhibit ended October 12, 2004.
